GameMaker 2 devs can port to Switch

Yes, yesterday's Nintendo Direct event was cool, but the most interesting news came as an aside to the news that Undertale is coming to Switch. That was built using dev toolkit GameMaker 2 from YoYo Games who announced an official export to Switch option. This means plenty of smaller indie coders can bring their great games to the hybrid.

That could mean the likes of Rivals of Aether, Indie Pogo, Hush Blossom,  Hotline Miami, Spelunky, Luftrausers or Nuclear Throne and many more could be coming sooner rather than later. Lots of developers were flooded with questions about ports soon after the announce, so it'll take a while to see what gets officially announced, put on a wish list and so on.

Older games on GM1 might struggle to come across, but it creates an excellent new source of future games and means smaller devs can support the Switch and carry the load in between the mega-Nintendo releases.

Catch up if you missed yesterday's Nintendo Direct

Sit back and relax for 30 minutes with the latest news from Nintendo including Undertale and likely many more GamerMaker 2 ports coming to the Switch. Among the not-so-surprising news was the arrival of Okami HD to Switch, Mario Tennis Aces and much more, along with a few surprises. I do think its a shame Luigi's Mansion is headed to 3DS and not Switch!

Another World lives long on the Switch

A classic in the true sense of the word, 1991's Delphine's Another World got the makeover treatment back in 2006 for its 15th anniversary, and has continued to pop up every now again since. This time its arriving on the Switch, with DotEmu bringing its rotoscoped loveliness and epic sci-fi story along for the ride. Out sometime in the spring, well worth checking out if you've never experienced this platform adventure before.

Switch owners getting Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy

There are so many Naruto games on other formats, that somehow they had to eventually come to the Switch. Guess the easiest way to do so was to bring over an existing trilogy. This compilation of the first three Ultimate Ninja Storm titles lets players relive the story of Naruto Uzumaki from his days at the Ninja Academy to the 4th Great Ninja War.

This digital-only collection releases on 26th April, so probably a good time to stock up on SD cards. It features most of the DLC including Saskuke’s kimono costume, and let the players choose between beloved heroes and villains like Naruto Uzumaki, Saskuke Uchiha, Pain or Obito Uchiha to lead into battle.

Presumably Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 won't be far behind.

Character creation and life about town in Attack on Titan 2

Koei Tecmo is dropping a load of new Attack on Titan 2 trailers today, ahead of the game's release on 20th March for Switch and other consoles. The other trailers feature the usual combat highlights and the new multiplayer mode.

Online features include Annihilation Mode where Scouts have to compete for the highest score by defeating Titans and capturing bases. In Story co-op players can call upon friends to help complete the main storyline.

Also, a new online mode featuring playable Titans will be made available after launch; more info on that soon.

Pixel Noir coming to the Switch

A cool looking adventure that I've been following development on for years is coming to the Switch, Pixel Noir from SWDTech is a fine homage to the 16-bit era adventures with a healthy dose of cyberpunk and film noir and tactical combat.

Definitely one to look out for, the game still only has a 2018 release date, but having followed it since 2014 on Vita, what's a little longer!

Switch sales nudge up in Japan ahead of first birthday

Switch sales are up a few hundred to 39,696 in the latest Japanese Media Create data, as the super-selling console approaches its first anniversary. There are no new Switch entries on the software chart as Bayonetta continues to sink fast, and the big hitters maintain ground in the top 10.

Kicking off March with a bang in Japan, Doom is out this week, with Kirby: Star Allies in the middle of the month, with Zelda Musou Hyrule Allstars DX bringing a hopefully exciting month to a climax.
